No help for topic "colors".
Hm, karen, 2005-03-19 16:31:50
Shouldn't players be able to use better color codes too?
The ones available are kind of awkard.

very intentional, allaryin, 2005-03-19 16:34:38
It is very intentional that players are restricted in their use of colour. We honestly don't want people putting very much colour in things, and this way forces them to close the tag - and prevents them from trying to send other codes that could be harmful to other players.

I'm assuming you're talking about terminal control codes?
others, malap, 2005-03-20 10:04:23
What other codes do you want? The whole gamut (16) of ansi colors?
O_o, karen, 2005-03-20 12:27:17
Well, the system in use now is awkward to say the least... At least for me. I'm used with &* flags and similar stuff. Besides, what harm can be done by allowing people to use the full range of colors ansi has to offer?
err, I misphrased, malap, 2005-03-21 05:29:17
I wasn't intending to be smarmy, all colors are doable.

We probably need to leave off black, since it makes 'invisible' text possible. I don't have strong objections to other stuff.
howabout color backgrounds to the text?, garvin, 2005-07-13 00:38:35
you know...hiliting?
i vote no, allaryin, 2006-05-24 00:16:14
I'm generally very much against people setting background colour on any text on muds. It's kind of the start of the slippery slope to death and destruction and bad ugliness and stuff.
You should notice that the wizards (who do have access to the full range of color codes) don't really use background codes anywhere.
